Pronurturance was less likely following caesarean section (adjusted Odds Ratio (aOR) 0.07, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) 0.03–0.17). Pronurturance was more likely with a known midwife during labour and birth (aOR 1.89, 95% CI 1.35–2.65). Contributing to the low rate of pronurturance were lack of antenatal skin-to-skin information; babies being wrapped; women wearing clothing; and non-urgent caregiver interruptions including weighing the baby or facilitating the mother to shower. Key Conclusion: Health services must strategically address the institutional processes which delay and/or interrupt skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding in birth suite and operating theatre settings. Implications for Practice: Midwives and midwifery students providing continuity of carer are best placed to provide pronurturance to mothers and babies. Caregivers should educate women about pronurturance antenatally, and actively support immediate, uninterrupted mother/baby skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding after birth.]]> Wed 23 Nov 2022 11:50:22 AEDT ]]> Predictors of breast feeding self-efficacy in the immediate postpartum period: a cross-sectional study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:25416 Wed 23 Feb 2022 16:02:25 AEDT ]]> Exploring and developing student midwives' experiences (ESME) - An appreciative inquiry study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37853 Wed 19 May 2021 12:41:09 AEST ]]> Incidence of maternal near miss among women in labour admitted to hospitals in Ethiopia https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37500 Wed 19 Jan 2022 15:19:14 AEDT ]]> International benchmarking for acute thrombolytic therapy implementation in Australia and Japan https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:30082 versus 25% of acute ischaemic stroke patients, p = 0.0016). Any groin pain (current and/or historical) lowered the Pain and Quality of Life (QOL) subscale scores (p < 0.05, ES: 0.38 and 0.72 respectively). Factor analysis showed 8 significant factors with one main factor identified representing items describing forceful activities (Eigenvalue = 18.02, Proportion = 0.49). Conclusions: The HAGOS can distinguish AF players with current groin pain in the PFDL and PFSR subscales but not in the other four subscales. Those who reported being unhappy at their current weight ranked their most to least important reasons for wanting to change their weight from a list of nine options. Weight control methods used in the previous two years were reported from a list of 12 options. Perceived healthy eating and physical activity factors influencing weight management were assessed across 20 items using a five-point Likert scale. Findings: the most prevalent motivators reported for weight change were to improve health (26.1%) and lift mood (20.3%). Three-quarters (75.7%) of women reported having used at least one weight loss method in the previous two years. Time constraints due to family commitments, enjoyment of physical activity and healthy eating, motivation and cost were factors most commonly reported to influence weight management. Body mass index, parity, education, household income and time since last birth were related to motivations for weight change, weight loss methods used and/or factors perceived to influence weight management.
